“Eating Faeries” 16

The Wolfdog hadn’t much fun lately.  But this dark-haired girl was a lot a fun.  She understood immediately what the dark-haired girl had wanted.  The wolfdog had recovered from its fall on the policeman, but it soon found itself dodging human hands.

The blond woman was screaming at it.  “Grab that dog! Kill it! Shoot it!”

The wolfdog cringed and immediately ran under the blond woman’s legs and made a turn around the kitchen.  It soon returned back to the living room to find two more police trying to corner it.  The white wolfdog gave a growl.  The police chuckled.  How could such a tiny dog be dangerous?

“C’mon you little dog be nice and we’ll-” One officer, a short man in his fifties was interrupted as the wolfdog bit into his left shin.  Before he could try to grab her, the Wolfdog had already bolted away.  The other officer, a dark-skinned woman duck away as the Wolfdog jumped past.  The wolfdog narrowly missed her head.

Yep.  This dark-haired girl was definitively fun.

The collector sat still and rocked back and forth in its spot as the Spell of Sending continued.  Its mind was taking in the knowledge just as it had given it.  Its masters were talking to it now and it was completely ignorant of all things around her.

Warlock Luke, in his dark robes, watched the ceremony with interest from the doorway.  He had seen it a million times over.  The Spell of Sending, a basic communication with the Abyss.  So dry, so boring.  The warlock was hoping for something a little more demonic.  Ah well.

Luke then spun his hands about and called forth a similiar spell.  His mind expanded as he silently spoke the words of telepathy.  He could hear the mind of the Collector and could hear the words it heard.  Luke smiled as he realized who was talking to the Collector.

Soon his chance to overthrown the Prince would come.  Luke’s plan soon would…

Luke paused for a second.  He remembered.  He felt it come out again.  Even as his telepathy overheard the Collector and its Master’s conversation, he could feel some come closer.  An old artifact… one that belonged…

“Uncle,” Luke cursed aloud.  Luke was almost livid.  His uncle always appeared to destroy his work!

“I hate you Uncle Dispater,” Luke sneered as he thought of how he could use this information to help him in his plan to take Prince Francis’s place…

The Collector’s mind was a torrential landscape of thoughts and voices.  It patiently felt it’s the voice of its master enter its mind, speaking.  The voice was as a harsh as the desert, as burning as the noon sun, and as cruel as any whoever has been alive.  The word torture or evil were poor and inadequate descriptors for this voice.

“I… absorb thy information…” Spoke its master’s voice as it echoed throughout the Collector’s mind, as if it were speaking from the opposite side of a canyon.  “You… were right… to inform me… my servant…”

The Collector gave a twitch in unconscious acknowledgement.  Its master would reward her, after all.  She did want to live after he returned to his homeland.

“This… man… he is… the last one… the last symbol… he alone stands in my way… his life energy keeps me from… coming… back to the earth…”

He is the last part of the Seventh Seal, my master?

“Yes…” The voice echoed. Her master then laughed, it sounding like a hyena cackling over a dead meal. “He is the last… of his… kind. Kill him… and I… will return.  Kill him… and Lord… Seth shall… arise renewed.  Morgan… and her… fey are trying… to… earn Lucifer’s loyalty… fools.  Lucifer… follows no one… I will… rule… and Osiris will pay.  Kill… the Wolf… free your… master…”

The Collector nodded and awoke from its trance.  If it could smile, it would have.  The Collector had wanted to slay the mortal.  Now it knew what Francis hoped to do.  He was going to bargain with the Lords of the Abyss over the man in the basement? Now the Collector knew for sure that Francis was a fool.

Then unexpectedly it sensed another in the room with it.  Before the Collector could even open its mind to sense the room more thoroughly, it blacked out as the warlock slammed into it with his magic.

Luke smiled as the serpentine Collector laid on the floor in pain.  He did so enjoy causing pain.

Alex was nervous.  She was nude and she was the two feet tall, not to mention she was on the top of her roof.  She quickly assessed her options.  The drop from the roof of her single story home seemed to be really far now that she saw it from the roof’s perspective.  Not to mention how her tiny size managed to make the drop seem twice its normal height.

Alex had to get down.  But how could she do it?

“C’mon Alex,” She said to her self as she analyzed the situation.  Alex couldn’t really climb down; there was nothing to climb down.  She couldn’t wait here.  Every second she waited, the sooner was the chance she would be found by a police officer or spotted by a helicopter.   She could jump, of course.

But jump off the roof?

Alex looked over the edge of the house again.  Nope, it was too far to the ground.  She imagined splattering on the hard concrete of the patio.  She felt the Gem of Ages in her hand.

Could I use this thing to fly? She thought.  Or maybe it could give her the right amount of lift.  But no, she reasoned, there was no way she could avoid making herself hit the ground hard plus she needed clothes to be and maybe a place to hide.

It was then that Alex noticed that her neighbors were gone.  She smiled as she grabbed the Gem of Ages and turned it into a whip.  The whip that it became wasn’t the same whip as before.  The whip it created now was perfectly suited for her size.  Alex smiled and swung the whip once again.  The wind picked up.

Now she just had to jump from her roof to the neighbor’s.  Alex guessed the distance between the roofs was about ten feet.  She wasn’t sure if she could jump that far… but she couldn’t stay here.  So Alex tossed the book across the way.   It hit the roof and slid until it fell off the roof with a thump.  She cursed at herself for missing.

“Ah well.” Alex muttered as she then steeled herself for the jump.  She took in a deep breath and grasped tightly to the vial of faerie’s blood.  She swung the whip in a circle as she started to run.

It was then Alex smiled.  Not because this was stupid, but because she just realized the sight of it all.  A nude two-foot tall girl jumping between roofs, swinging a whip.  She laughed as she jumped.  She felt the wind hit her as she became airborne.

It felt like hours went by.  Alex kept whispering and muttering, hoping that she would make it.  C’mon wind, she thought, carry me wind.  Carry me!

More wind picked up and she was right between the two houses.  Alex felt weightless.  Wind brushed by her.  She felt herself begin to drop.  Gravity sank its teeth in and she felt it.  Alex begged and prayed to the wind.  She didn’t what to die this way.

“C’mon!” Alex spoke angrily.

The wind picked up once again, but this time it was stronger than ever before.  It pushed Alex onto the roof and she rolled as she hit the roof.  She barely stopped herself before she fell off the roof.

Alex breathed deeply as she sighed with relief.  Was that what birds felt like to fly? Alex then decided she was tired of this whole roof thing.  She crawled into the nearest air vent with the book in her arms.

Alex’s guess had been right.  Her neighbors weren’t home.  They must be outside or out, Alex thought.  She crawled through the attic, looking for a way down, for perhaps another secret space like the one behind her closet.  No such luck.

Eventually she found the door to the attic and managed to crawl down out of it.  The drop from the attic however, was almost as dizzying as the one outside.  Her feet hurt for a minute after she hit the ground.  Still nude, Alex wandered her neighbor’s home for a little bit.

Alex didn’t remember their last names, but she did know that they had a pair of twin four-year-olds.  Alex regretted it, but she need some form of clothing.  She would have to reprise her disguise from two days ago.

Alex found the twin’s room and managed to rummage through until she found clothes that fit her in her new ‘size’.  Most the clothes were a little tight around the chest but Alex eventually settled on a simple ‘Hello Kitty’ shirt and some polka spotted sweatpants.  In the parent’s room Alex found an adult-sized sweatshirt that she could were over the whole ensemble.

“Ok… I can see the reason why little girls would want be older kids… these clothes are just too damned-”

Then the front door opened and closed.  Alex could her a pair of four-year-olds giggle as they entered with their parents.

Alex cursed aloud.

Her neighbors were home!  Without thinking, Alex grabbed the book and Gem of Ages and slid under the Parent’s queen-sized bed.  She crossed her fingers as she hoped they would go to bed soon.
