Description

It's when you do an idea, find it's wrong and dig a bit deeper, then become certain it won't be interesting, that you get surprised.  Surprise at one's own work happens, although I for one don't intend to be surprised by images I scrawl.  This one I thought was going to be boring.

I rather like it.  It kinda captures what Goblins are, or at least the little fae things I've been using for #Inktober this year.

Goblins as the wild curious about civilization.  That border state between civilized things and impulse.  That line you get in frontiers, on the edge of the wild.  That rural vibe that fairy tales require.

Midden
One doesn't waste.  A midden is a variety of things, but isn't a trash dump.  Village folk do what they can to make everything last, even broken things.  A shattered pan can be mended.  Torn clothes can become rags.  Even water can be used a dozen times, over and over.

Dumplins are that rare kind of Goblin that most villages pay no real mind.  They live in the Midden, and every little thing that makes it there, they treat as their personal treasures.  The compost heap is their castle, and most pay them no mind most of the year.  The little goblins turn over the compost, seemingly unaware that they are maintaining it in their own games.  Dumplins are easy to convince to depart with fresh compost, taking broken pieces of glass or wood like they are sacred offerings.

And of course, they stink as much as the Middens do.
